About

A beginner-first guitar system that feels like playing.

NoChords is built around a simple idea: beginners should experience success before they’re asked to memorize theory. Traditional chord learning asks for hand strength, shape memory, and timing all at once—then calls the frustration “practice.”

What NoChords replaces

  • Chord diagrams and shape memorization
  • Early barre requirements that stall progress
  • Tab overload before rhythm is internalized

What NoChords teaches first

  • Position (fret locations mapped to colors)
  • Motion (simple, repeatable strums)
  • Rhythm (beat rails + ghost coaching)

The core mapping

Colors map to power-chord positions (root + fifth) on a fret‑0 system. The open position is fret 0. Songs are presented as lyrics, and words can be split into timed segments—so music stays aligned with how you actually strum.

Designed for real-world learning

NoChords stages reduce complexity on day one. New positions unlock when your playing shows consistency—measured quietly through timing and control.
